Donald is a native of St. Paul, Minnesota, and of the Santee Sioux tribe. He serves as the executive director of the Indigenous Theological Training Institute. His work supports promoting Native American leadership in the Christian church and providing opportunities for the expression of indigenous theologies.

Formerly a Director of the Multicultural Committee at the American Cancer Society, he began his involvement with the IHEA: facilitating community meetings, organizing the production of educational materials, and networking with numerous donors and health professionals.
